23 January 2007 Devastations - European tour
Starting on February 12 Devastations embark on a
comprehensive European tour through France, Spain,
Portugal, Greece and other less exotic countries,
ultimately ending up at ATP (Dirty Three) in April....
If you are coming to the show in Madrid put on
something presentable – it's being recorded for a DVD
release later in the year.
In the midst of this, Devs will dig in somewhere in
Berlin to begin recording LP #3. Then they go to ATP.
Then Scandinavia. Then somewhere else. And so on, and

02 November 2006 Devastations - in the USA
We've been bugging Devastations for some tour stories. Here's their latest news...
so we finally made it over to the states after a very long and drawn out visa application process, where it looked like our visas would be rejected, for reasons which were not made clear to us. perhaps my moustache. anyway, they were approved at the 11th hour, and here we are.
so, holed up in brooklyn now after doing a great show in DC with the national, and a fun (if extremely short) set at the knitting factory in NYC.
we are all enjoying the relentless friendliness of the american people (you’re welcome!) and the food is better than expected. coffee sucks though.
perhaps the most surprising thing so far has been the relative ease to spot celebrities. we are having a competition with the drones as to who can spot the most thoughout this tour. as we came into manhattan through the holland tunnel, the first person we saw as we were spat out onto the island was lou reed. lou fucking reed. christ. in DC we saw george clinton walking down the street in full sci-fi rainbow fuckfest regalia, but earlier that day we saw our trump card – george motherfucking bush. he was in a motorcade, headed towards the white house, of about 60 police cars, motorcycles and big black SUV’s with army types toting machine guns.
12 April 2006 Devastations sign to Beggars Banquet
We hate to see them go. But at least we'll have cheap digs to crash at in London.
Devastations are pleased to announce that they have recently inked a deal with UK label, Beggars Banquet.
The band can now count Mark Lanegan, Tindersticks and The National, to name a few, as their labelmates.
They relocate to London in late April and have a slew of dates all over the UK/Ireland over the next few months
09 February 2006 Devastations - off to Europe
After making the shortlist for this year’s AMP awards, The Devastations are playing their final shows before relocating to the UK and Berlin for an indefinite period.
The past 12 months back in Australia have been extremely fruitful for the collective, the launch of their successful second album Coal - featuring the singles Sex and Mayhem and Take You Home - proved to punters and critics alike that The Devastations are more than able to generate records that capture the imagination and ignite the spirit.
As those who witnessed Devastations shows in 2005 can attest, the band deliver live sets brimming with dark intensity and engaging warmth, bringing their recorded material to life in a way that is nothing short of breath taking. So it seems totally fitting that the boys have chosen to bid us farewell by playing one last show at The Tote on Friday the 17th of February with very special guests Rowland S Howard, HTRK and Young Professionals.
21 November 2005 Devastations - flamenco style
Join the all-conquering Devastations as they play a headline show at Melbourne’s lushest new music venue, The Spanish Club, on Friday the 2nd of December. Never ones to rest on their laurels the lads have been busy soothing punter's hearts and minds around the country with the soft and sexy sounds of tracks from their latest CD, Coal. With the brand new track, Take You Home, hitting radio this week, and confirmed supports for Emiliana Torrini and Sons and Daughters coming up the Devastations are looking to make sure 2005 has been their biggest year yet.

16 August 2005 Devastations - Sex & Mayhem
In-Fidelity is proud to welcome the Devastations to the fold.
It has been a little over two years since the release of The Devastations' acclaimed self-titled debut (described by Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in Mojo magazine as "the best thing I've heard all year", and named the best debut of 2004 by Rolling Stone Germany). But that time has been spent productively, the greater part of it in Europe, using Berlin as a home base, touring the continent and working on their follow-up, Coal.
Recorded in three locations - a Prague concert hall, the former East German headquarters for radio and television in Berlin, and a Melbourne studio - Coal's gentle ballads, such as 'I Don't Want to Lose You Tonight' and 'Dance With Me', sit alongside the sharp, rapid fire assault of 'Take You Home' or 'What's A Place Like That Doing In A Girl Like You'. Strings and piano alternate with stinging electric guitars, and throughout the songwriting is deft and heartfelt.
The record's beauty is also enhanced by the contributions of a number of special guests. New Zealand songbird, Bic Runga, lends her gorgeous voice to 'A Man Of Fortune', Padma Newsome, of highly-regarded New York instrumental quartet Clogs, plays violin and viola on 'I Don't Want To Lose You Tonight' and 'A Man Of Fortune', and Genevieve McGuckin (ex-These Immortal Souls) plays a woozy optigan on 'Dance With Me'.
It's a testimonial to the Devastations' craft that despite its varying recording locales and special guest appearances, Coal is as cool, cohesive and compelling a record as you could ever hope to hear.
Coal is out on In-Fidelity on Sept 19th
